In a significant move, former England all-rounder Moeen Ali and veteran South African batsman Faf du Plessis have both decided to participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, foregoing the opportunity to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

Moeen Ali's Decision

Moeen Ali, aged 38, announced his decision on X, expressing his excitement about joining the PSL in its "New Era." He highlighted the league's reputation for high-quality T20 cricket and the passionate atmosphere in Pakistan.

His statement included:

He has accumulated 1167 runs and taken 41 wickets in 73 IPL matches. He previously played nine matches in the PSL for Multan Sultans.

Faf du Plessis Focuses on PSL

Faf du Plessis, former South African captain, also announced his withdrawal from the upcoming IPL auction on November 29. He stated that he will focus on the PSL, where he has previously played for Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators.
